JB trip:) ♥ 11:59 PM

Mum woke me up at an unearthly time of 8am(during holidays, i hardly do 8am mornings) to go Johor Bahru(JB). It was today that i realise how aggressive my mum is as a driver:S So her reputation was not unfound after all.

I love my Bak Kut Teh:)
Photobucket

After breakfast, mum want to have the car washed and on the way, i saw this. Sorry, i can't help but laugh. My mum thinks i'm crazy. Well, just imagine a Muslim driving it. Wouldn't it be so ironic?
Photobucket

Mum supervising the car wash.
Photobucket

Local sights. You will never see this in Perth! I love the wet market except the live chicken part. You probably seen the video in my previous blog entry before. I remembered not eating chicken for days after watching them slaughter the chicken so be warned! It is super gruelsome! But of course if you still want to watch, watch it at your own risk.
Photobucket Photobucket

After wet market, it was shopping at City square. Ahhh, finally aircon:) Oh the sales are fabulous! Sales make me feel so high:) I got 1 pair of shorts, 3 tops and a pair of sexy stilettos for RM200. Cheap or not? *Wide grin*

After that, Mum and I went over to my third Aunt's home because my grandparents are there. Shame that Ah Ling is not there to chat with me:(

But this baby entertained me most of the time i'm there:) He is soooo adorable! Well, maybe not when he got cranky.
Photobucket

Everybody together, say 'Awwww'
Photobucket

Anyway, i wish i can speak Hokkien, my maternal grandparents' main language. I could only speak Chinese so when i say stuff to them in Chinese, they nod their head and smile. And i'll be left wondering whether they understand me or not. My Hokkien is atrociously bad. I can't even speak a sentence fluently:( I wish i could though. I always envy people who have their grandparents lived with them. They are able to communicate with their grandparents so well. I never had the chance. Never had the chance to learn their language. Never had the chance to understand them. Never had the chance to hear understand their personal life stories. That probably explains why i don't feel close to them and every time i see them, it is a duty to call their names and then it all ends there and we will wander off doing something else while the older generation chatter away in rapid Hokkien.

Therefore, when i'm in Perth, some people don't understand why i want to learn Cantonese so much and i attempt to speak it as much as possible to my Hong Kong friends even if i'm laughed at for my somewhat funny accent. Thank God i have the ability for laughing at myself. Some of the words that i pronounced wrongly is really hilarious. But i hope to be fluent in Cantonese so that one day i'm able to understand what my faternal paternal grandmother has to say and am able to communicate with her although she can understand Chinese and English.

Being able to speak their native tongue, maybe, i say maybe, i'm able to tell them about how wonderful my God is and they are able to fully understand me and are persuaded to believe in Him. My maternal grandma's white snowy hair is a reminder that they are no longer young. Time is running out.

People may say just find somebody who can speak their language to preach to them but i want to be that somebody. My maternal grandmother could see the difference between her Christian grandchildren and non Christian grandchildren. So what is left is my personal testimony. I want to tell her how God blessed me.

Urgh, I hate this language barrier so much.

Why? ♥ 11:57 PM

How is it possible that they have time for every other things but none for God?
How is it possible that they rather stay home and bum than come for service?
How is it possibe that they no longer believe that God love them?

How is it possible that they had learnt so much yet celebrate pagan festivals?
How is it possible that they rather do something else than to observe Sabbath?
How is it possible that people who used to be zealous for God could forget His wonderful grace?

I feel sad some times when these happen but i have no right to judge them for who am i? I'm just a little speck of dust amongst the others + i'm guilty of these some times. I wish i could say something to remind them yet, i'm unable to open my mouth because i'm afraid. Afraid about what they will think of me, afraid that i'll make matters worse*sighs*

Maybe they are struggling with problems of their own. And i can't help. I dearly wish i could. To remind them how they felt when they first tasted the sweet water of His grace. The one that quench their thirst. And that in Him they found rest. But how?

When i know that somebody is going through a crisis, i wish they trust me enough to tell me because i wish to help. Sometimes i know their problems but then i do not want to look like a busybody so i feign ignorance. I always seem to be talkative and be close to everybody but deep within me, i know that nobody but Jesus understands my soul. I saw how close Josiah and Nathaniel were in church on Sunday. They may be young but i'm envious of how they are so close to each other. Like David and Jonathan in the bible. I always yearn for a close friend in church. Somebody who shares the same faith as me. Somebody who walks together with me on this uneven and rocky path. Somebody to encourage me to keep going on. Somebody who understands and know what to say when i needed advice. Somebody who shares secrets and not keep everything one-sided. Jesus is that somebody yet i want that human touch. I know i asked to much. I can't help it. I feel ashamed of myself sometimes when i see others who, even at their lowest point, are able to be close to Him.

I know a lot of people read my blog but i'm not ashamed to confess my weaknesses. And for people who reads my blog and are facing some personal problems, i want to let you know that you are never alone. Somebody is praying for you.

I hope that I will never forget His grace, that He died for me. Because He loved me first.

Teaching ♥ 8:52 PM

twenty nine 6 years olds for 6 hours isn't funny! They can be oh-so-adorable but these little kids are energy- suckers. Oh, a very funny thing. I taught Mandarin today. Don't laugh!

Thank God that i survived the day and thank God that Esther decided not to watch movie today. It has been one very insane day for me!

P.s: I got my new glasses. You can't find anybody more nerdy than me. Seriously.

Fun @Pulau Ubin ♥ 11:18 PM

We planned to meet at 9am at Tanah Merah MRT station but then all of us ended up late. And there is some one whose handphone battery died and overslept*ahem*

Anyway, we still managed to meet upand go Pulau Ubin:) Oh, apparently the transexuals gather around Changi village at night:( I was looking forward to see them but the rest of the gang think i'm siao(crazy). What's wrong with transexuals? Some of them are really pretty! Ok, maybe the Thailand ones.

Before we went over to Pulau Ubin, we had a hearty breakfast at Changi village:) Nasi Lemak was awesome!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

When we reached the port to board the boat, we saw this sign. ZZZZzzz.
Photobucket
Yay, finally 12 people arrived. The guys were joking that when i'm back, there will be 12 people by that time. Luckily, i came back in time or i know they will just leave me there. Some things never change, i'm still being bullied:(
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Hello Ubin:) Presenting the mascot of our gang... Me:P
Photobucket

I can cycle as well as the guys despite my only form of exercise being walking in the malls for 8 hours straight. Don't doubt me although i'm a lil' slow because i'm not used to exercising in Singapore's humid weather. It was hard. Trust me.
Photobucket

Fixing Chris' bike because the chain fell off.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

KKMC, ME!, Vince Christopher and Joel(L to R) Don't ask me why i'm always the only girl. Has always been the case since i was a baby. Sighs, maybe i'm the only tomboy one. Alrite, to be fair, most of them are doing project or having school.
Photobucket

Yay! A ice cold coconut to cool oneself down. Sorry, can't resist 自恋.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Chris was sick so he decided to wait at the pier while we continue cycling. On the seesaw:)
Photobucket

No, this isn't Taiwan. This is a disused quarry.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

At the seaside. KKMC didn't know that he was taking a video. Listen to what he says careful. If you don't understand, ask me.

After 2 hours of cycling, we decided that we had enough. Pulau Ubin ain't that big anyway.
Photobucket

We went to get Joel some sunnies. I'm shopping queen afterall then went to bowling. After exercising my legs, exercise my hands. My bum was hurting for 2 days for the record.
Photobucket

I did the most pro thing ever in my bowling history, not that the history is very long. Anyway, i was really tired and i didn't bowl the proper way. You know, like using 2 hands to throw the ball? Yeah, i was rolling it and it was moving reaaaally slowly and it seems to be moving nearer and nearer to the right gutter and the guys were like 'boo' because it was about to enter the gutter and then the most dramatic thing happened! The ball moved back to the centre and i STRIKE! Damn i'm pro:P

Haha, then we were talking about how Eden threw the bowling ball the last time and fell down. And the ball fell into the gutter but bounce out again. I can imagine Eden reacting after the ball bounced out. Haha, it's so damn funny if you know Eden. Oh, and i have yet to see his Haka dance! Eden is from New Zealand by the way!

Oh ya, if anybody wants to eat steamboat, the Marina South restaurants are CLOSED. We went for a joy ride in the bus. So not cool:(

Ended up at Suntec city for Pepper Lunch in my stinky clothes although the guys says i'm not stinky because girls don't stink anyway. What kind of logic is that?!

Once again, i'm the slowest eater. You guys are PIGS:P
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Went home with Chris because Vince wanted to check out something at the CD shop. It has been a long time since i had a proper conversation with Chris. And i felt like we were as close as we were in Sec 4. I wish we are still the same as in Sec 4 but things change, people change and we just have to move on with our lives. I'm just happy that for those brief minutes, we talked. I hope to see you more often but your our busy lives doesn't not allow this to happen.

I slept well that night:)

Another fruitful weekend ♥ 11:36 PM

Friday night- Sleepover @Sembawang church! We had bible study after service then it was SUPPER! Finally got to eat my Mutabak. Tim, i haven't got to eat my roti prata! I wanted to order roti prata for supper but Tim was like, we are eating it for breakfast tomorrow so i didn't order. Guess what we ate for brekkie? Macdonalds:) OK, i don't mind because i miss Singapore's Macdonald's sausage egg muffin!

Maybe i'll eat naan next time. Jonah's cheese naan looks yum!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Saturday- We were supposed to eat dinner together after choir but we couldn't decide where to eat then somebody suggested my home. Very funny ah, whose wonderful suggestion was it? Anyway, we ended up buying stuff from NTUC and then went my home for steamboat.

Guys are really BUMS. The guys meaning Tim, Zi Chao, Jonah and KKMC sat down watching tv while poor Fresa was cutting the stuff and i was hunting for all the stuff we need for the steamboat.

OK, must give the guys some credit, they made the drinks.

Do you think the soup ended up looking like shark fin soup? Anyway, I had a fantastic time:) Next week steamboat @church?
PhotobucketPhotobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

Sunday- Went for the real deal. My parents are the best!

OK, it's bad to drink shark fin soup and i'm not advocating it. But then again, i hate sharks so i rather i eat them than they eat me.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Chili crab! *screams* I heart chili crab:) Honey dew sago for dessert.
PhotobucketPhotobucket
Ahh, i love my summer hols. Things seems to get better:)

And for those who haven't seen my new hair cut, here you go. Yes, i'm a Cheena girl!

What i had been doing the past few days ♥ 6:31 PM

07.01.2008(Monday)- The day after i came back from Taiwan, i want to cut my hair.

Daddy was very sweet:) Work for half day then came back to bring me to Johor Bahru(JB) to cut my hair and shop:)

Went to the pet shop to get Tranis rabbit food. Awwww, look at all those puppies. I want one*sighs*

I really do. Anyway, my new hairstyle. I'm still not over it. Still depressed after 2 weeks!

Should have left it at this length:( See the length of hair i cut. Even the girl next to me gasp out loud!

Rushed home to go Esplanade for a Singaporean gathering because ZQ is going back Perth. I'm surprised he didn't say ANYTHING about my hairstyle. Stayed out till 12.30am. All for you ZQ ok! If not i would be at home trying to recover from my Taiwan trip.

08.01.2008(Tuesday)-Absolutely refuse to step out of my house. Detox time.

09.01.2008(Wednesday)- Swimming. I need to lose all the fats i imagined in my head. It's all psychological because according to my weighing machine(yes, weighing myself was the first thing i did when i got back from Taiwan), i lost weight.

10.01.2008(Thursday)- Meet up with my Daaaarlings:) You guys are VERY helpful hur when i told you guys i want to lose weight. Ate ice cream>.<

See what these 2 sweetheart gave me! A little cute tortoise that says 'muuuuuaaak, I love you!' when you squeeze her stummy. She is a girl because she is pink! It's on my phone now! And these girls did the numbering photos again. They did until 5 but i posted only one. This is number 3.

We were supposed to swim again but the weather didn't allow so we ended up sitting under the umbrellas and chit chat.

Then when it was around 5plus, we went up because RP needs to go home for dinner.
RP: I need to go home to cook.
Esther + Me: WHAT??!!
RP: No la, only cook rice.
Est + me: Chey!

When we went up to my room, we continued playing Tai-ti(Chinese poker). We are teaching Esther to be Queen of Tai-ti:)

Yay, mummy dearest always cook what i feel like eating:):):)

11.01.2008(Friday)- Grounded at home to clean my room up. To tell you the truth, after 2 weeks, the room is back to it's original state. Which leads to the question of ' Why even clean my room??' Well, i'm a very clean person if i want to actually:P

All my trophies from Primary school till Junior college. To think that i was the champ swimmer in my primary school days when my daddy trains me. Whatever happened? Oh well, i'm still a pretty good swimmer anyway:) Oh well, there are some other academic, shot putt and table tennis medals there too. Oh ya, grow up with the boys in church sure do wonders to my table tennis skills. Like seriously, i beat a school team player from another school to a gold without training. How cool is that?

12.01.2008(Saturday)- After service, went to eat chili crab because i'm craving for some. In the end, 3 huge families went-___-"

After dinner, went to Uncle Chiang Meng's home because he moved again. The kids with Germaine's hamsters.

13.01.2008(Sunday)- Went shoe shopping with my daddy because Mum went to church to help out for the Evergreen followship stuff. The fastest i ever bought a pair of sporty shoes. 30 minutes because my dad was like 'come on, Serene.' He don't understand that i have to consider the fact that the shoes have to go with my clothes. Guys*shake head* And when i ask his opinion, everything looks nice on me-___-" But i'm happy happy joy joy because i finally got my lacoste shoes:)
14.01.2008(Monday)- Changi Airport Terminal 3. Waited and waited and waited for Donna Chiang and we found out she is in Terminal 2 so we waited for her to come over with Carmen and Jeffery.

While waiting for them, Yong Sheng and Azriel got bored and whizzed around in the luggage trolley. I tried pushing Azriel around. You are super heavy you know? And nearly collided into Yong Sheng so i stopped:P

Finally got my trench coat*insert thousand smileys* Long story about this coat. Just ask KKMC or Edwardy.

15.01.2008(Tuesday)- Went to get new spectacles with Mum. We spent 3 hours in the shop. Dad has classified the Mother and Daughter team as dangerous. You get the idea.

16.01.2008(Wednesday)- Out with Esther because i wanted to visit our newly renovated Yishun Town Secondary school. I feel lost when i went in because it looked so different. Mr Francis Tan was sweet enough to bring us around since there is security laws that doesn't allow us to go to anywhere else except the first floor.
My Secondary 3 and 4 form teacher, Madam Chan is still there. If you want to stay slim, be a teacher. I think being slim comes from the fact that teachers are really stressed up. But strangely, they don't age. I feel like i entered a time standstill.

Esther initially didn't want to go back. So much for 15minutes hor? After that, had a simple fare of ice kachang and popiah. Singaporean food that i miss so from my secondary school days. Ahhh, reminiscing those days.

17.01.2008(Thursday)-Stay home and blog
18.01.2008(Friday)- Visited the Singapore Bird Park because i had not been there since many many years. I think we went was with the gang(Joel, Jonah, Glenn, James, Amanda, Vince, Jean, my brother and me). Ah, those days... Went with KKMC, Joel, Timothy and Winly. Anyway, please don't go there! The birds are boring plus Singapore's humid weather.. made me feel crabby. Sorry Winly! My bad ok. I admit it was my idea. If you come again, we will bring you to Pulau Ubin ok!

Yeah, Singapore has the highest man made waterfall in the world. I'm not sure i can be very proud of that though. It's MAN-MADE after all.

Bird show

I'm still 10 years old at heart:) And it is getting hot!

Mad woman bird.
Jumping on the bridge. Joel wasn't liking it but Winly, Tim and I keep jumping just to annoy him:P KKMC got a bit worried because the whole bridge was moving! Haha, i think that is the funniest part of the whole trip.

All i can say is, if you want to go, go with good company because a boring place will be fun with great company!

19.01.2008(Saturday)- Look at the traffic at the causeway. Those little dots are actually humans. It's crazy!
Finally got to see our new addition to the family!

Went over to JB again because 阿公 and 阿妈 is going for our church evangelistic meeting in JB church. Met Grace there after so long! And the joke was she didn't know that Wen Ling is my cousin after knowing both of us so long!

It scares me that my grandparents are aging so fast. Time is going way too fast and i'm not liking it:( The upside, i had a heart to heart talk to Ah Ling(Wen Ling, Ah Ling is her nickname). Hope to see her again!

20.01.2008(Sunday)- Couldn't wake up for Youth service because thanks to the traffic jam on the causeway(yes again! Singapore government is supposed to be efficient!), we reached home only at 1am. In the end, i went to see CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) cars with my parents. See, we are an environmentally conscious family. And then because i really wanted a chandelier, we went to get one. I even got to go through the newly built Singapore's longest tunnel.

Once again, thank you daddy for setting it up for me:)

21.01.2008(Monday)- Curtain cleaning day! In times like this, i feel like i'm on Big Brother. Exposed!
22.01.2008(Tuesday)- Called up for relief teaching! Primary school kids are really adorable but no Primary ones thank you. They can be overwhelming sometimes.
23.01.2008(Today)- Wanted to go for a swim but then it rained HEAVILY. See, it's not that i don't want to swim. The weather just doesn't permits! Oh well, i better get ready for church now.
